1. Promoting Healthy Hygiene Practices
- Staff, dancers, and families should stay home if feeling sick and should only return when their symptoms have subsided. Anyone who has been in close contact with a person with COVID-19 should stay home.
- The studio will be equipped with soap, tissues, no-touch trashcans, and hand sanitizer.
- Staff will use face coverings when within 6 feet of a dancer and during drop-off and pickup. Face coverings will be required for dancers upon arrival and departure, but may be removed during class time.
- Staff and dancers will wash hands after dance class, before/after lunch, after coughing or sneezing, and before/after using the restroom. Our staff will teach and reinforce dancers to avoid contact with their eyes, nose, and mouth, as well as covering coughs and sneezes.
- When washing hands, dancers and staff should wash for 20 seconds with soap and water.
- Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the studio for frequent use between classes.
2. Intensified Cleaning, Disinfection, and Ventilation
- Staff will clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces throughout the day.
- Frequently touched surfaces include but are not limited to: door handles, light switches, sink handles, bathroom surfaces, tables, and ballet barres
- For the time being, the use of shared prop items and equipment will be limited. If used, they will be disinfected between uses.
- We have taped our studio floors to ensure staff and dancers will remain at least 6 feet apart.
- Restrooms will be disinfected multiple time throughout the day, or at least once per hour.
- Hand washing signage will be posted in each restroom.
3. Implementing Distance - Arrival and Departure
- Upon drop-off and pickup, students and families will wait outside while practicing social distancing. A staff member will invite students in one at a time, allowing for hand sanitation and temperature check (no-touch). If a temperature is greater than 100 degrees that person will be asked to return home.
- Students must wear face coverings upon entering the studio.
- Families and visitors must wear face coverings for the entire time they are on the premises at Protégé.
- Signage will be posted throughout the studio reminding everyone to wear face masks and practice social distancing.
- Dancers will remain in the same studio and groups as consistently as possible.
- Teachers will remain in one studio throughout the day.
4. Limit Sharing
- All personal belongings will remain separate. Please have your child's items labeled with their name.
- Staff will remind children to avoid sharing items with classmates.
5. Training Staff and Families
- Protégé staff will be trained on all procedures including:
- Cleaning/Disinfecting protocols, Sanitation practices, Physical distancing, Proper use of face covering, and self-screening at home—including temperature and symptom checks.

- All staff will continue to maintain communication regarding any changes or new training measures needing to be taken.
6. Checking for Signs and Symptoms
- Protégé staff will conduct visual wellness checks upon your arrival to the studio.
- Anyone entering the studio will have their temperature checked with a no-touch thermometer and will be asked if they have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms within the last 24 hours, as well as anyone in their home.
- Any person showing symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to return home.
- All incidents of possible exposure will be documented and tracked. Local health officials will be notified, as well as all staff and families, of any positive case of COVID-19, while maintaining confidentiality.
